Resident Spotlight — Rose

Welcome Home, Rose!
Rose grew up in Tewksbury, Massachusetts in a large, loving family. She was one of 10 children – the first daughter, with seven big brothers before her. “My mother was very hardworking – always cooking and cleaning. She was incredible but was she ever happy when I came along to help her out!” recalls Rose.
“When she passed away and we were at the funeral, I remember saying, ‘I was Mom’s favorite.’ One of my brothers said the same thing—and then another one said it too. And we all laughed! Every one of us felt that way. That’s how she made all of us feel, like we were each her favorite.”
After marrying her sweetheart, a boy from the neighborhood group who grew up four streets away, Rose raised two daughters and a son while working her way up in the workforce, first as a bookkeeper, then an office manager, and eventually as the head of human resources.
Now enjoying her golden years, one of Rose’s daughters, Lori, helped her mom when it came time to look for a home that could provide the assistance that she needs.
“This was actually the last place Lori visited, and she fell in love with it immediately. She talked to residents here and asked them what they thought, and they all told her the same thing: ‘She’ll love it here.’”
Calling Bowman home now for just about a month, when asked if she has a favorite memory so far, Rose fondly and confidently says, “My very first day.”
“When I arrived to move in, they had a sign on my door that said ‘Welcome, Rose.’ People I had never met before had written cards welcoming me. Everywhere I went, people said, ‘Hi Rose, how are you?’ I didn’t know how they all knew my name, but they did. From the very first day, I felt very welcomed.”
“My family was concerned about how I would handle leaving home and moving somewhere new. But now when they visit and see me here, they’re happy because they see that I’m safe and happy,” Rose says, breaking into a beautiful smile.
